Patient Information

What to expect your first visit:

We want to make your first visit to Retina Specialists a pleasant one; therefore we ask the following of new patients:

We recommend new patients schedule at least two hours for the initial comprehensive evaluation, completion of all paperwork and even possible treatment. In some cases, treatment will begin or even be completed on your initial visit.

First-time patients are required to provide us with a thorough medical history, including a list of all current medications they may be taking.

Please bring any Medicare, Medicaid or insurance information. Usually, identification cards are all that are necessary, however, some coverage requires referrals and payments, which the patient is responsible for bringing to the office. We at Retina Specialists file Medicare, Medicaid and insurance as courtesy, but the patient is responsible for any deductibles or co-payments at the time of the visit.

A comprehensive eye exam, including a visual acuity test and measurement of the intraocular pressure will be performed, followed by dilation of the eyes.

We suggest you bring a family member or friend to drive you after the appointment, since your eyes will remain dilated several hours after the examination. For your convenience, we provide sunglasses, which are helpful in reducing the glare.
